Hi Peter, thanks for your comment. Agreed, it does take some planning, and also some trial and error. I've changed systems over time as the technology increases, but sometimes the older ones are still the best.

Thanks for the insight on how you set yours up.

Cheers

Nice insight. Setting up your personal information management system takes some planning.
Email/web/rss are natural starting points (Gmail, Google Reader, Friendfeed, Seesmic for Twitter).
Once I decide to keep information, after reading, I have 2 storage locations:
URL's go into Delicious
Articles/posts go into Evernote

Hi Kate, thanks for your comments, it's always great to get feedback!

I think sometimes as content owners and producers, we spend so much time focused on actually producing the content, and forget about the follow up, which is where true value lies in building relationships.

I had a read of your blog post that you suggested - it staggers me the way some people operate. The sort of approach he used seems to me to be one that had small potential for short term gain, but certainly no long term value. By not building the relationship first, he cut himself off from future contact and trust that may have delivered him some leads along the line.

I've read some of your other content, it's fantasic. I've subscribed to your newsletter and look forward to reading more (and checking out your new About page when it's done!)

Thanks again for visiting, and Happy holidays to you!

This post is a winner. I have just started an update of my website and will use the idea of the dynamic "about" page. What a wonderful idea to keep the info not only up-to-date but conversational as well.
I LOVE the whole get personal approach and connecting as people. Online networking does not have to be impersonal. I will retweet this post for sure.
Check out my blog post on "Networking Soft Skills - The Surprise". It underscores what makes for success in the personal approach and what can sink it -- at katenasser dot com slash articles.
Happy Connections to all in 2010!
